Chromosome Length in Relation to Transmission Frequency of Maize Trisomes.

چکیده
RISOMIC inheritance was first reported in maize by MCCLINTOCK (1929) T in a study of segregating progenies derived from a spontaneous triploid (RANDOLPH and MCCLINTOCK 1926). Later MCCLINTOCK and HILL (1931) identified the primary trisome of chromosome IO, the shortest member of the maize chromosome complement which carries the r-g linkage group, and certain general observations on the known primary trisomic types of maize were made by RHOADES and MCCLINTOCK (1935). The present study was undertaken to compare the breeding behavior of the eight available primary trisomic types in maize.

A Cytogenetic Study of a Chromosome Fragment in Maize.
ACH of the ten groups of linked genes in maize has been associated E with a specific member of the haploid set of ten chromosomes. The morphology of the ten chromsomes has been studied a t pachytene by MCCLINTOCK (1933) and each member found to differ from the others in such characters as length, position of the spindle fiber insertion region and presence of deeply staining knobs in definite po...
متن کاملIsochromosomes in Tomato.
HROMOSOMES with two similar ends have been recognized since the pioneer work of BELLING and BLAKESLEE (1924) on the secondary trisomes of Datura. More recently, the term, isochromosome, has been applied .by DARLINGTON (1939) to those chromosomes which have two identical arms. When found occurring naturally, the isochromosome has usually been shown to consist of inert, or B-type chromosomal mate...
متن کاملDissecting the maize genome by using chromosome addition and radiation hybrid lines.
We have developed from crosses of oat (Avena sativa L.) and maize (Zea mays L.) 50 fertile lines that are disomic additions of individual maize chromosomes 1-9 and chromosome 10 as a short-arm telosome. The whole chromosome 10 addition is available only in haploid oat background. Most of the maize chromosome disomic addition lines have regular transmission; however, chromosome 5 showed diminish...
متن کاملTransmission of maize chromosome 9 rearrangements in oat-maize radiation hybrids.
Oat-maize radiation hybrids are oat (Avena sativa L.) plants carrying radiation-induced subchromosome fragments of a given maize (Zea mays L.) chromosome. Since first-generation radiation hybrids contain various maize chromosome rearrangements in a hemizygous condition, variation might be expected in the transmission of these rearrangements to subsequent generations. The transmission and integr...
متن کاملPartial and complete microdeletions of Y chromosome in infertile males from South of Iran
Y chromosome microdeletions are the second genetic cause of male infertility. The incidence of Y chromosome microdeletions can vary considerably depending on several factors, including patient selection criteria, population composition, and diagnostic protocols. They are associated with spermatogenic failure and lead to azoospermia or oligozoospermia. The advance in assisted reproductive techno...
